Organizers are encouraging residents to participate by running, walking, volunteering or attending in support of the cause.

Siegal, a Hall High School student, was shot Feb. 22 in Hartford. He died a few days later.

Authorities said Siegal was with friends and was getting into an Uber shortly before 2 a.m. when the shooting occurred near an area of bars and nightclubs close to the People's Bank Arena.

No arrests have been announced regarding Siegal's death.

Siegal was an honor roll student at Hall High School and participated in both soccer and lacrosse.

His death prompted an outpouring of support from classmates, teammates, teachers and residents throughout West Hartford.

Organizers described Sunday's event as an opportunity to "celebrate Cam Siegal" while bringing the community together in his memory.

The event's theme emphasizes honoring Siegal's legacy, running for a cause and giving back.

The memorial run is supported by local organizations and athletic groups, including Hall High School-affiliated programs and community sponsors.

Registration for the event is currently open.

Organizers said proceeds will support initiatives associated with the Camden Siegal Memorial Fund.
