Third Pedestrian Hit By Vehicle In West Hartford In Five Days

Victim sent to hospital in critical condition Wednesday evening.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — In yet another frightening incident involving a motorist and a pedestrian, yet another person is fighting for their life, West Hartford police said.

According to the WHPD, the accident happened just after 5 p.m. Wednesday on Mohegan Drive, when police were called to a report of a motor vehicle collision where a pedestrian was hit.

Police said the victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was provide medical treatment at the scene.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is helping investigators.

The victim was transported to an area hospital and was in critical condition, police said.

The West Hartford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is actively investigating the incident.

Based upon a possible work-related injury, Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health (CONN-OSHA) was notified as well.

This crash came a day after an elderly woman was killed Tuesday after being hit by a hit-and-run driver in town and four days after another pedestrian was struck and seriously injured.

Pedestrian and traffic safety has been a growing issue in West Hartford and nearby towns and, just Wednesday morning, local activists were protesting at the scene of Tuesday's fatal incident to urge improved safety in town.
