WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police Wednesday afternoon have identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian accident Tuesday evening as being an elderly woman from West Hartford.

Wednesday afternoon, officers put out a public call for any information that can help with the probe.

"To aid our investigators, we are asking for community members and visitors to provide any and all information available that may be related to this incident," wrote the WHPD.

Police are also asking if area residents might have any high-tech help to offer.

"Any residents along Boulevard in between South Quaker Lane and Prospect Avenue are encouraged to review and provide any doorbell or video surveillance footage that may depict a light-colored sedan with front end damage, or any vehicle that may have been involved in this collision," police wrote.

The WHPD is also asking if any motorists who traveled through the area of Boulevard and Whiting Lane that have in-car camera systems review their footage and provide police with any information that matches the previous descriptions.

Passengers on a commuter bus nearby might also be able to help, police said.

"We are also seeking to identify and speak with passengers that may have been riding on CT Transit bus #69 (Capitol Avenue Route) yesterday around the time the collision occurred," police wrote.

Wednesday morning, the situation reportedly caught the attention of local activists, who demonstrated at the crash site, urging the town to enact more measures to improve pedestrian safety.

Tuesday's fatal pedestrian accident comes only three days after another pedestrian was badly hurt after being hit by a vehicle on South Main St.
