WEST HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man faces several charges after West Hartford Police say he stole a bicycle and burglarized Modern Tire with the intent of stealing cars from the business. He was also found to be wanted on seven failure-to-appear warrants, according to police.

Chance Robinson, 19, of Evergreen Avenue, was arrested after a series of events that began when a suspicious person was seen riding a bicycle on Farmington Avenue near Westfield Road at about 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 30, according to Lt. Michael Perruccio.

While speaking with the man, who was later identified as Robinson, police discovered the bicycle he was riding had been stolen from West Hartford Center just a few hours earlier. When Robinson’s identity was confirmed, it was discovered he was wanted on seven failure-to-appear warrants, according to Perruccio.

“The stolen/recovered bicycle was identified by a license plate the owner had affixed to it,” Perruccio said. “Citizens should make every effort to mark and record their property so it can be easily identified in the event it is lost or stolen.”

Robinson was charged with second-degree burglary, criminal attempt at first-degree larceny, two counts of criminal attempt at third-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny and seven counts of second-degree failure to appear. He was held on bonds totaling $85,000.
