As a result, the fire was deemed a structure fire, which brought an additional engine company and a deputy chief to the scene.

Priest said no one was found outside the building on arrival.

The deputy chief arrived and, in light of the type of occupancy and conditions found, declared a working fire which brought all other West Hartford FD units to the scene, Priest said.

Fire crews were able to quickly knock down the blaze.

According to Priest, crews searched the building for victims/occupants and none were found.

He said ventilation was performed to clear out the smoke, allowing for the West Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office to investigate.

During the response, all five West Hartford fire companies were on the scene for a short period.

In addition, Hartford and UConn fire departments, as well as American Medical Response, assisted while West Hartford units were at the scene.

Ultimately, no injuries were reported and the fire was under control quickly, Priest said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the West Hartford Fire Marshal’s office.

"As always, West Hartford Fire greatly appreciates the assistance of the West Hartford Police, Dispatchers, AMR, and our other mutual aid partners from area fire departments," Priest said.
