Then, on and after Wednesday, April 5, commercial yard waste and clean wood will no longer be accepted at the center.

"This includes material brought in by permitted residents with side businesses that generate frequent volumes of yard waste and clean wood material," wrote the Town of West Hartford in an announcement.

"Only permitted residents with acceptable recycling materials and yard waste generated from their residence will be accepted."

The new policy would also eliminate leaf vouchers from the Fall Leaf Collection Program.

Residents are encouraged to notify their contractors now of this change.

In addition to policy changes, the hours of operation at the Recycling Center will change effective April 5.

The facility will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Starting April 8 through Dec. 16, the facility will be open on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon.

“We strongly encourage residents to buy their annual permits on line to keep lines moving through the facility entrance,” said Phillips. “Bring your receipt to the recycling center to obtain your windshield permit sticker for 2023.”
