Climate Change Forum Slated At West Hartford's Conard HS

Students and several local organizations are hosting a panel talk with several state legislators about climate change legislation.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local high school students, community members and lawmakers are assembling at Conard High School Thursday for a frank talk about climate change.

The forum is called “Climate, Community and Conversation” and it will feature a who’s who of dignitaries to talk about this problem.

It will take place at Conard High School, 110 Beechwood Road, West Hartford, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14.

Expected are state Rep. Kate Farrar, D-West Hartford; state Rep. Jillian Gilchrest, D-West Hartford, state Rep. Bobby Gibson, D-Bloomfield; and state Sen. Derek Slap, D-West Hartford.

In addition, members of West Hartford’s school board and town council are expected as well.

The program is being organized by Conard students, the Sustainable West Hartford Commission, CT League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and other partners.

It will take place in the Conard High School cafeteria and it will consist of a panel-style discussion.

Up for discussion will be federal climate funding, environmental wins and losses and folks will be asked to sign the 2024 “Climate Action Statement for Legislators.”
