West Hartford Forum To Address Elmwood Community Center Project
The program Wednesday night is called "Refining the Design — New Community Center."

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Elmwood's biggest project is the topic of a community forum Wednesday night in which the public can tell leaders what they want in a new community center, senior center and library.
The program is called "Refining the Design — New Community Center" and it will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Elmwood Community Center Auditorium, 1106 New Britain Ave., with a presentation slated for 7 p.m.
There, interested members of the community will be able to drop in and provide feedback about what they want to see regarding to project, which is still in the early planning stages.

"All members of our community have the ability to co-create the vision for our town and help shape decisions," wrote the Town of West Hartford in announcing the forum.
"We invite you to be a part of the process."
Last year, West Hartford purchased the old St. Brigid School site, which encompasses 8.5 acres in the Elmwood section of town at 100 Mayflower St., for $3 million, with the state reimbursing most of that figure.

Now, the town is in the information-gathering phase of the project, with several events slated for this fall, starting Thursday, to do just that with members of the public.
The project would, eventually, replace the community center and library in the Elmwood section of town, as those buildings are seen as being antiquated.
