Couple Accused of Heroin Possession with Young Children in Car

West Hartford police arrested the couple following a motor vehicle stop.

West Hartford Police arrested a man and a woman following a motor vehicle stop in which the couple was found to be in possession of heroin while their young children were in the backseat.

Amie Willis, 28, of Terryville, and Ryan Big-Mountain, 29, of Plainville, were both arrested Jan. 28.

Police said that during the motor vehicle stop, they observed that Big-Mountain had his sleeve rolled up with a fresh track mark that was bleeding along with empty heroin bags in his hand when he was asked to exit the vehicle.

Willis was found to have two bags of heroin in her purse, according to police.

Police also said that the couple’s children, all under the age of 6, were in the backseat of the vehicle.

Big-Mountain was charged with possession of narcotics, risk of injury to a minor and conspiracy. He was held on a $10,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 5.

Willis, 28, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, risk of injury to a minor, conspiracy and failure to drive in the proper lane. She was held on a $5,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 5.
