CT Ranks Toward Bottom of List of States for Business, Article Says

The state ranked low on a list of states for business, ranked from best to worst.

Connecticut ranked low on the Forbes list of states throughout the country for business, ranked from best to worst.

The nutmeg state landed the 43rd slot on the list, equating to placement in the bottom 10. Its placement signals a downward trend for business in Connecticut, as it ranked higher (at number 39) on the 2015 list.

Connecticut represents a gross state product of $259 billion, according to Forbes. The state has a five-year annual GSP growth of 0.2 percent.

According to Forbes, business costs are 10 percent higher than the national average due in part to energy costs that are 59 percent higher. The state rates fifth overall in quality of life, however, thanks to low crime and poverty rates, a healthy populous and strong schools.

Forbes also says Connecticut’s regulatory climate and fiscal health rank among the worst in the nation.

The state ranks between Rhode Island and Alabama on the list, who place 42nd and 44th respectively.

On a whole, West Virginia ranks last on the list while Utah tops the list at first.
