The Day After: West Hartford Recovers, Issues Post-Storm Warnings: UPDATE
Sunday's snowstorm is mostly over, but the cleanup the day after has West Hartford officials opting to close several municipal buildings.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — In addition to public schools, several other Town of West Hartford facilities are closed or severely limited in terms of operations on Monday due to Sunday's snowstorm.
As the recovery continues, the West Hartford Public Works Department is issuing a winter weather travel advisory due to ongoing snow showers, arctic cold temperatures, and resource limitations.
Road conditions may be slippery and will remain unpredictable, changing without notice.

Drivers traveling on West Hartford roads are urged to:
- Drive with extra caution until conditions improve.
- Reduce speeds and avoid sudden braking.
- Increase the following distance between vehicles.
- Use added care when turning or changing lanes.
- Allow extra travel time.
- Drive responsibly to keep yourself and others safe.
"Plow crews are pushing back snow to the curb to open up narrowed roadways and scraping roads to the surface to reduce slippery conditions. Do not push or plow snow into the street," wrote the town on Monday afternoon.

Due to the snowstorm, West Hartford announced the following facilities will have a change in hours of operation or be closed altogether:
- West Hartford Libraries (Noah Webster, Faxon, Bishops Corner) will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26.
- The Veterans Memorial Skating Rink will be closed on Monday.
- Cornerstone Aquatics Center will be closed on Monday.
- Elmwood and Bishops Corners senior centers will be closed on Monday.
- Elmwood Community Center will be closed until noon on Monday. Staff will assess weather conditions and determine whether afternoon and evening programs will be held.
