West Hartford Aims To Make Elmwood Bloom Again
An ongoing collection drive ends on May 16 to make it happen in Elmwood.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Spring has sprung and one local effort in the Elmwood section of town aims to turn the streets of that neighborhood into a veritable cornucopia of flora and fauna.
According to Elmwood community members, it is "time to make Elmwood bloom again."
Center to that effort is West Hartford resident and businessman Charlie Hilborn, who is seeking the support from Elmwood businesses, residents, community groups and friends.

Hilborn, representing the Elmwood Business Association (EBA), has been out and about to get merchant support for floral planters along New Britain Avenue.
Last year nearly 50 residents and Friends of Elmwood contributed between $25 and $255.

Planters will be distributed along the avenue to add to those the businesses are purchasing.
"I am so happy and humbled by the opportunity to work on this project for another year," Hilborn said. "We are hoping those who can, will consider participating as every single donation will help contribute to the purchase of another planter. Lets show all of West Hartford the Elmwood Pride."
Knox Inc. is assisting with an incentive to purchase or contribute to a planter purchase by keeping the price at $225 per planter for those purchased before May 16.
