DUI Driver Crashes Into Pole, Knocks Out Power: West Hartford Police

The driver was arrested after the crash on Sunday morning.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A West Hartford man was arrested after police say he was operating under the influence when he crashed into a utility pole, which destroyed the pole and knocked out power to the area on Sunday morning. Police responded to the scene in the 300 block of South Main Street at about 8:25 a.m.

A 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee was being driven south on South Main Street when it left its travel lane and was driven directly into the pole, according to Capt. Jeffrey Rose.

The pole was destroyed and broken into three pieces. Rose said the utility wires were not brought down but power was knocked out because a breaker was tripped.
