Elderly West Hartford Senior Living Resident Hurt In Fire: WHFD
The blaze was reported in the unit's bathroom shortly after 3 a.m. Monday, fire officials said.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — An elderly resident of a local senior living facility suffered minor injuries after a fire in her unit's bathroom early Monday morning.
According to the West Hartford Fire Department, dispatchers at 3:07 a.m. learned of a report of a bathroom blaze in an apartment at the Aviva Senior Living Facility, 1 Hamilton Heights, West Hartford.
The WHFD was immediately sent to the scene along with West Hartford police.

When units arrived at 3:10 a.m., firefighters located an "active fire" in the bathroom of a first-floor apartment, the WHFD said.
Fire personnel quickly extinguished the fire by 3:18 a.m., firefighters said.

Following a search, firefighters located the tenant of the apartment, who was relocated to the apartment across the hallway by facility staff prior to arrival.
WHFD paramedics and American Medical Response personnel attended to the care of the patient, who was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, wrote the WHFD.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the West Hartford Fire Marshal’s office.
"The WHFD is very appreciative to the West Hartford Police Department and American Medical Response who provided assistance at the scene," wrote WHFD Deputy Chief Neal Sinatro in a statement Monday morning.
