Eugenia Mezhirova’s “Awakening Glass” Exhibit Comes to Duncaster

Opening reception for the exhibit, May 6 at 4:00 P.M.

A unique display of glass mosaics by Eugenia Mezhirova will be showcased at the Duncaster Art Gallery during May. There will be an opening reception for the exhibit, called “Awakening Glass”, on May 6 at 4:00 P.M. The exhibit will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M until May 25.

The exhibit will include mosaic art, which is a rare art form, especially in New England. The artist creates her art by using shards of glass to develop shape and form to join other colorful pieces on a board and tell a story. Her passion for glass mosaics started about 10 years ago.

At first Eugenia was a self-taught artist but decided to take several classes and workshops with renowned mosaic artists, and later joined the New England Mosaic Society.

She explains that the glass is not all the same. Therefore, the pictures could be rough or smooth, abstract or surreal. “I smile putting together the sparkling tales. To me, they reflect the radiance, and multi-faceted complexity, and craziness, and buoyant beauty of our world,” she says. “The happy energy of life and nature is channeled into my mosaics.”

Attendance for the opening reception on May 6 is free and open to the public; however, advanced registration is required. For more information or to make a reservation to attend the opening reception, call 860-380-5006.
