Ex-Lawmaker To Lead West Hartford Nonprofit

The Hartford resident is head of a WeHa nonprofit dedicated to providing transportation to seniors and the visually impaired.

WEST HARTFORD/HARTFORD, CT — A West Hartford-based nonprofit dedicated to helping seniors and the disabled with their transportation needs has named a new executive director.

ITNCentralCT, located at 50 S. Main St., West Hartford, (Room 216 at West Hartford Town Hall) recently appointed Hartford resident and former state lawmaker Evelyn Mantilla, 61, as its new executive director.

She started work July 1 and succeeds Kevin Farmer, who retired after 10 years leading the organization.

Mantilla brings more than two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and policy advocacy.

ITNCentralCT’s mission is "providing dignified transportation options for seniors and visually impaired individuals." It serves the West Hartford/Greater Hartford areas.

“It has been an honor to serve ITNCentralCT for the past ten years, and I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together," said Farmer.

"Evelyn is a visionary leader with a proven track record of fostering community partnerships and driving organizational growth. I am confident she will lead ITNCentralCT to new heights and ensure our services remain accessible and impactful for those who rely on us.”

Mantilla expressed excitement about joining ITNCentralCT.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead such a vital organization and build on the incredible work that Kevin and the team have accomplished,” said Mantilla.

“I look forward to collaborating with the board, staff, and community partners to enhance our transportation services and support the independence and well-being of our member riders.”

Mantilla’s career includes serving as a Connecticut State Representative representing her home city of Hartford from 1997-2007.
