Firefighters Battle 3 Fires In 3 Hours In West Hartford
Two of the fires occurred within minutes of each other, according to fire officials.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Firefighters responded to three working fires within three hours, including two fires that occurred within minutes of each other, on Wednesday, according to fire officials. Two of the fires were porch fires, the first on Oakwood Avenue and the second on Nesbit Avenue, while the third was a dumpster fire at a commercial building on Oakwood Avenue, according to We-Ha.com.
We-Ha.com reports that while all of the fires occurred roughly in the same area of town, officials believe they aren’t connected and were accidental.
“Aggressive fire suppression measures were deployed within minutes and the responding companies were able to keep the damage to a minimum,” fire officials wrote about the response to the fires in a post on Facebook. “Properly stationed and readily available fire department resources are a crucial component to protecting the citizens of West Hartford as well as increasing the chances that occupants have in returning to their homes and/or to provide for their business. All three fires were extinguished quickly without injury to civilians or firefighters.

“The West Hartford Firefighters would like to remind everyone that careful disposal of smoking materials is as important outside as inside. Do not throw out cigarettes into vegetation, potted plants or landscaping, peat moss, dried grasses, mulch, leaves, or similar items as they can easily catch fire. The resulting fire can spread to the home’s siding, deck or porch and from there, into the home or business.”
