Hall-Southington Hockey Player Suffers Devastating Injury

The community is rallying around a Hall-Southington hockey player after he underwent six hours of surgery for a devastating injury.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The state hockey community is rallying around Hall-Southington senior captain Drew Booth after he underwent six hours of surgery for a devastating facial injury sustained during a showdown with town rival Conard over the weekend. Booth, a senior at Hall High School, took a hard hit against Conard and suffered broken eye sockets and a broken nose, according to the Hall-South Hockey Twitter account.

“This was a lot more serious than it looked,” reads a Tweet from Hall-South Hockey. “Wish him luck and hope the surgery goes perfect.”

Hall-Southington was back in action for its regular-season finale against Sheehan on Monday, the same day Booth was scheduled for the six-hour neurosurgery. Hall-Southington coach Brian Cannon told the Meriden Record-Journal before Monday night’s game that Booth was out of surgery, but he had no information on how it went.
