Health District To Help People Stop Suicides
The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District July 30 is hosting a free class to help community members handle a potentially suicidal person.
WEST HARTFORD/BLOOMFIELD, CT — Whether you work with the public or, simply, want to help someone experiencing a mental health crisis should someone with this problem cross paths with you, the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District has a free class to help.
On Tuesday, July 30, the district is hosting free "QPR" suicide prevention training, an "evidence-based suicide prevention intervention training that can save lives," according to organizers.
The class will be at the Bloomfield Human Services Center, 330 Park Ave., Bloomfield, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Registration isn't required and all are welcome to attend.
"QPR" stands for "question, persuade, and refer" and it is a basic technique folks should conduct should they come into contact with a suicidal person.

The program will also go over the warning signs of suicide, the causes, and how to help someone in such a crisis.
