Huge Honor For West Hartford's Public Works Department

WEST HARTFORD, CT — When the roads are quickly cleared after another snowstorm in West Hartford, know that the town's public works department is behind the effort.

And when realizing that, also know that West Hartford's Department of Public Works is an award-winning department ... one of the best.

This week, that was clear as WeHa's DPW earned the 2023 Connecticut Association of State Highway Officials Distinguished Service Award.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, the honor will become official at the CASHO's annual banquet.

According to town officials, West Hartford's DPW was cited for its "outstanding contributions to the community and the state's transportation infrastructure."

"This prestigious award is presented to an organization that has demonstrated unwavering commitment, innovation and excellence in maintaining and improving their public works systems," wrote the town in an official announcement recently.

Local officials said West Hartford public works has been "recognized for its dedication to enhancing the safety and quality of life for residents and travelers in Connecticut."

Most notable is West Hartford Public Works action on Vision Zero transportation/pedestrian safety improvements, sustainable material management practices, and "overall commitment to public works maintenance excellence."

As a result, an award ceremony will take place at the CASHO 50th annual awards banquet on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville (Southington).

The event will bring together key stakeholders in transportation, infrastructure, and public works to celebrate the accomplishments of West Hartford Public Works.
