Update: Three I-84 West Hartford Crashes Cleared
Accidents on both sides of the highway Thursday morning severely snarled traffic.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Interstate 84 is a mess this morning after three separate crashes on either side of the highway in West Hartford.
All three wrecks, however, have been cleared.
According to the state Department of Transportation, the first accident was on I-84 westbound between exits 46 and 41.

The three-vehicle accident caused a 2.8-mile backup, starting at about 8:08 a.m. Thursday, with the left and center lands closed, according to the DOT.
DOT officials said this crash was cleared at 9:02 a.m. Thursday, near the highway's junction with South Main Street.

The second accident happened a few minutes later on the eastbound side of I-84, according to the DOT.
DOT officials said that wreck was a two-vehicle accident between exits 41 and 43, resulting in the right and center lanes being closed.
The second accident caused an estimated 2-mile backup.
That crash happened at about 8:23 a.m. with the DOT saying that crash was cleared at 9:20 a.m.
Shortly after the first crash was cleared up, two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane nearby between exits 39A and 40.
DOT officials said the third accident was at about 9:08 a.m., resulting in the left lane being closed.
This accident was cleared at 9:17 a.m., according to the DOT.
