In With Winter, Out With Fall — Last Week Of Leaf Pickup In WeHa

The first day of the last week of of leaf pickup in West Hartford falls on the same day as the first winter storm of 2022-23.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — In a perfect sign of Mother Nature's impeccable timing, the Town of West Hartford has announced the final leaf pickup of the fall season is the same week as the first winter weather of 2022-23.

Town officials have announced the week of Dec. 12 is the last week of the town's fall leaf bag collection program.

Of course, any leaves that haven't been picked up yet are buried under a few inches of white stuff.

If you happen to have any leftover bagged remnants of autumn, which is still technically ongoing as the seasons change Dec. 21, they can be picked up this week only.

West Hartford officials said folks should put leaf bags at the curb by 6 a.m. on the morning of their trash day.

After this collection week, residents with a permit can bring leaves to the Yard Waste and Recycling Center at 25 Brixton St., West Hartford.

It should be noted the recycling center closes on Saturdays for the winter on Dec. 24 and Dec. 17 is the last Saturday the Yard Waste and Recycling Center will be open until early April 2023.

Commercial leaf voucher permits are good through Saturday, Dec. 17.
