Update: Car Fire In E. Hartford, WH Crash Cleared

Cars were backed up in West Hartford and East Hartford due to a multi-vehicle crash and a vehicle fire, respectively.

WEST HARTFORD/EAST HARTFORD, CT — The morning commute was a motorist nightmare Thursday morning as multiple accidents had traffic backed up on Interstate 84, but both incidents are now cleared.

According to the state Department of Transportation, I-84 east was backed up between exits 39 and 41 for about 1.6 miles after a three-vehicle accident reported at 8: 23 a.m. between exits 40 and 41.

That had closed the left lane, by it was cleared by 9:27 a.m., according to the DOT

Meanwhile, I-84 east in East Hartford was also backed up after a vehicle fire between exits 58 and 59.

The incident, reported at 8:26 a.m., had resulted in the right lane being closed, according to the DOT.

According to the DOT'S Twitter feed, the East Hartford incident was cleared at about 9:17 a.m.
