WeHa School Bus Crash: One Man Charged: WHPD
The 37-year-old suspect from Colchester was seriously injured in the April 26 accident, with charges coming Thursday.

WEST HARTFORD, CT— Local police Thursday charged a Colchester man in connection with a serious head-on crash April 26 between a car he was driving and a school bus.
According to the West Hartford Police Department, Nelson Martinez, 37, of Colchester, was found to be at fault for an accident that left him seriously hurt. Police obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Police said Martinez turned himself in to the WHPD Thursday without incident and was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment; illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs; posssesion of a controlled substance; reckless driving; and failure to drive right.

He was released Thursday on $25,000 bond and will appear in Hartford Superior Court Sept. 14.
Police said on April 26, at about 4:04 p.m., they were called to a head-on crash between a school buse and motor vehicle driven by Martinez on North Main Street and Miller Road.

Responders arrived on scene and tended to Martinez's "serious injuries" and he was taken to an area hospital.
Police said the school bus was occupied at the time of the accident, but there were no reported injuries.
The crash was investigated by the West Hartford Police Department's accident reconstruction team.
