More Than 50 Years Overdue Library Book Finally Returned In West Hartford
A book that was overdue more than 50 years was recently returned to West Hartford Libraries.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - A book that was overdue by more than five decades has finally been returned. West Hartford Libraries recently posted on their Facebook page that a copy of "Who Has Seen the Wind" was returned to the West Hartford Public Library more than five decades after its original due date.
The 1947 W.O. Mitchell novel was due back to the library on September 29, 1965, according to the libraries' post. An apologetic note was attached along with the book. (To sign up for West Hartford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
"Returning this book to you after too many years," the note said. "Sorry it has taken so long."

The book was returned to the West Hartford Public Library book drop Monday morning. The post indicates library management appreciated the book having finally been returned.
This is not the first time a massively overdue book has found its way back to a library. Earlier this year, a library in San Francisco received a book that was 100 years overdue, according to people.com.

The Guinness Book of World Records currently lists the largest library book fine paid as $345.14. The book was due back to the Kewanee Public Library in Illinois in April 1955, and was found in Emily Canellos-Simms' mother's house 47 years later.
