NWC Freshman Wins First Place in CT History Day Senior Exhibit

Mia Porcello's "Out of the Closet and Into the Medicine Cabinet: ACT UP New York's Healthcare Triumphs" wins First Place in CT History Day.

Mia Porcello of West Hartford won First Place in the Senior Individual Exhibit division of the Connecticut History Day Regional Contest held in Torrington on May 16, 2019. Porcello is now qualified for the State Contest, which will be held May 4th at Central Connecticut State University.

The top three winners from each of the six regional competitions advances to the State Contest. If Porcello finishes in the top two in the State Contest, she will move on to the National Contest in June. The National Competition is the compilation of 114 winners from the 50 States and seven other affiliates, such as Washington DC, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa.

Porcello has competed in Connecticut History Day for the past three years while a student at St. Timothy Middle School in West Hartford. Last year she was the National History Day Winner in the Junior Individual Exhibit division.
