Austin M. Page of West Hartford died peacefully at age 86 on April 9, 2018 with loved ones by his side. Born on May 29, 1931 in Hartford, Austin was the son of the late Wilder Page and Antoinette Tomaro and is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Terri; his children, Mark (Brian), Michael (Denise), and Edward (Diane); step-children Amy Foutz, Katie Guilmartin (Kevin), and special daughter-in-law, Amy LaRose. Austin is also survived by his brother, Art (Jane), and sister, Janet Scavetta, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Austin was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Richard, and step-son, David Soward. The family thanks the staff of Hughes Health & Rehabilitation Center and Masonicare for their excellent and compassionate care.
Austin grew up in Hartford, was a proud Army veteran, and enjoyed a long career in the manufacturing industry at Hamilton Standard, Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool, and Windsor Manufacturing. An active retiree, he was a golfer (or so he said), bowler, Squires member, woodworker, stained glass artist, stalwart UConn Women’s basketball fan, realty show fanatic, and master joke teller. Every Christmas, Austin’s beautiful woodworking and stained-glass creations were eagerly awaited and grace the homes of family, friends and neighbors.

He will live on in those beautiful gifts. Austin loved music and was a wonderful dancer and singer. Some of his happiest times were his daily visits to Dunkin Donuts with good friend, Greg Petrakis; and sitting on the patio, smoking a good (?) cigar, scotch in hand, listening to music from the good ole days with his dear Terri and furry friends always at his side.
Most of all, Austin was the friend everyone called if they needed a hand any time, day or night. Whatever the problem or need, he was always there with a smile, a solution and probably a joke you’d heard a million times, but you still laughed. He was much loved and will be dearly missed.
