Obituary: Dr. Alfred George Tufan, 86, of West Hartford
Alfred extended his Catholic kindness and compassion to all aspects of his life and was lovingly known as the "mayor."

Alfred George Tufano, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2016 surrounded by family.
He was born on October 1, 1930 in Cliffside Park, NJ to Caterina (Romano) and Raffaele Tufano and was one of 13 children in a large, boisterous Italian-American family. A deeply religious man, his devotion to God started at an early age and continued throughout his life. Alfred extended his Catholic kindness and compassion to all aspects of his life and was lovingly known as the “mayor,” as he could strike up a conversation and connect with anyone from any walk of life.

Alfred enjoyed a long career as a college professor and educator for over 40 years. He enjoyed reading, exploring screenplay writing, and kept his mind active all the way until the end, teaching students English online. He was happiest when surrounded by family, cooking elaborate meals for them and sharing in laughter.
Alfred leaves behind his devoted daughters Kate, Liz, and Sarah, the loving mother of his children, Nancy Sheehan, his sons-in-law Andrew, Dino, and Erik as well as 6, soon to be 7, loving grandchildren, Amelia, Auden, Sophia, Luca, Matthew, and Sam. Alfred left an indelible impression on the lives of so many people, from his fellow parishioners at church to the nurses at St. Francis Hospital to his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by many.

Visiting hours will be held at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, CT on Thursday, December 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford, CT on Friday, December 9 at 10:00 am.
