Ordinance Requiring Entertainment Licenses Approved by West Hartford Town Council

Businesses will now be required to turn off their music a half hour before closing, as well as obtaining entertainment licenses.

WEST HARTFORD, CT – Town council unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday requiring businesses to apply for entertainment licenses, the Hartford Courant reported.

Businesses will additionally be required to shut down music a half hour before closing, according to the Hartford Courant. The original plan had been to require businesses to turn off music by 11 p.m., but was altered after the plan received backlash.

The new ordinance has removed fees from the license applications, the Hartford Courant reported. While the license would be valid for as long as a business is in operation, failure to have one would result in fines of up to $250 a day.
