Package Thieves Arrested In West Hartford: Police

Thanks to the help of an alert resident, two men were arrested in connection to package thefts at four homes in West Hartford, police said.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Thanks to the help of an alert resident, two Hartford men have been charged in connection to package thefts at four homes in West Hartford, according to police. At about 3:10 p.m. on Dec. 13, a caller reported a package theft on Beverly Road in which a maroon Pontiac Grand Am with a broken brake light and tinted plate cover was involved, according to police. The vehicle was last seen heading toward Boulevard.

Police headed into the area and an officer saw a similar vehicle traveling into Hartford. The vehicle was stopped at Capitol/Rowe in Hartford, police said.

Police determined that occupants of the stopped vehicle were involved in the reported theft and several packages were located in the Pontiac. Investigation revealed that there were four different victims of package thefts from the Beverly Road and Lexington Road area of West Hartford, according to police.

Jose Cosme-Matos, 22, of Hartford / West Hartford Police

Jose Cosme-Matos, 22, of Capitol Avenue in Hartford, was arrested on four counts of simple trespass and one count each of sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Jose Luis Navedo Jr., 50, of Hartford / West Hartford Police Department

Jose Luis Navedo Jr., 50, of Rowe Avenue in Hartford, was arrested on charges of sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of registration plate, no insurance and suspended license.
