1. Unique Pizzeria To Open In West Hartford This Year (patch.com) — West Hartford food lovers can look forward to Dime Pizza, a new Detroit-style pizzeria planned for Bishop's Corner at 345 N. Main St., replacing the former Salsa Fresca space. Run by the team behind Camille's Wood Fired Pizza and Oakland Pizza, the restaurant will feature thick, airy pan pies with caramelized cheese edges, with more opening details to be shared on social media later this year.
   

2. 'Back-to-School Bash' Slated At Prominent West Hartford Destination (patch.com) — West Hartford families are invited to Blue Back Square this Sunday for a Back to School Bash featuring free backpacks, school supplies, music, games, and live art. Organized by Elevate WeHa with the town and local partners, the event aims to connect students and caregivers with community resources while helping kids start the school year prepared and energized.
   

3. West Hartford Schools Awarded Large Grant For Special Education Programs (patch.com) — West Hartford Public Schools are receiving a $350,000 state grant to expand in-district special education services and reduce costly out-of-district placements. The funding is part of a $10.6 million statewide program supporting new programming, staff training, assistive technology, and related improvements for students with disabilities.
   

4. West Hartford Approves Four-Year Firefighter Contract (patch.com) — West Hartford's Town Council has approved a four-year firefighter contract that raises wages, shifts crews to a 24-on/48-off/24-on/96-off schedule, and increases health insurance deductibles. The agreement also creates a joint $25,000 fund for training and fitness equipment as the department manages growing call volumes and emergency demands.
   

5. West Hartford Superintendent Announces New Principal for Morley School - We-Ha (we-ha.com subscription) — West Hartford Superintendent Paul Vicinus has appointed veteran educator Laura Meka as the new principal of Morley School, succeeding longtime leader Ryan Cleary. Meka, an experienced Watertown principal and former teacher, is already meeting Morley families as she prepares to uphold the school's strong community culture when classes begin next week.
