Prominent West Hartford Theater Group Announces Leadership Changes
Playhouse on Park named a new co-artistic director as one of its co-founders moves into an advisor role.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Playhouse Theatre Group, which operates locally based Playhouse on Park, announced a leadership transition ahead of its 18th season, with co-founder and co-artistic director Sean Harris stepping into a new role as artistic advisor while local director Sasha Brätt joins co-founder Darlene Zoller as co-artistic director.
The West Hartford-based theater company said Harris will remain involved creatively after helping lead the organization since its founding in 2009 alongside Zoller and Playhouse Executive Director Tracy Flater.
During his tenure, Harris directed productions including Metamorphoses, Passing Strange, Angels in America, Cabaret, Hair, A Chorus Line and Of Mice and Men.

Harris said he is grateful to remain connected to the theater as artistic advisor, where he plans to support the transition and continue participating in the organization’s creative work.

Brätt, who is based in Hartford, brings more than 20 years of directing, teaching and new work development experience to the role. His work has appeared in New York, Washington, D.C., Boston, Cape Cod and the Berkshires, according to the announcement.
He previously served for eight years as Playhouse on Park’s director of new works, where he launched the “Playwrights on Park” reading series focused on emerging and established playwrights. He also directed productions including ALL IS CALM in 2025 and GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL in 2026.
Flater described the transition as “a bittersweet moment” for the organization.
“We would not be who we are today without Sean’s extraordinary contributions to the growth of PTG, Inc.,” Flater said. “At the same time, I am grateful that he will continue to shape our future in his new role as artistic advisor.”
Flater also praised Brätt’s “artistic vision, collaborative spirit, and commitment to new works and community engagement.”
Brätt said he looks forward to continuing his work with Playhouse on Park in the expanded leadership role.
“The future is bright at Playhouse on Park as we continue making powerful theater in the heart of West Hartford,” he said.
