Residents Displaced In West Hartford Fire

A fire broke out at an apartment complex on Friday morning.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Several residents were rescued from a fire that broke out at an apartment complex on Oakwood Avenue in West Hartford on Friday morning, according to FOX 61.

FOX 61 report that the fire originated on the second floor of the building, located at 102 Oakwood Avenue. The basement unit was destroyed in the fire.

Working smoke detectors were credited with alerting residents to the fire, according to FOX 61.

Two adult residents were displaced in the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross provided assistance to meet the family's immediate needs and is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant; shaving supplies and other items, according to a press release.
