“I hope our efforts have promoted a higher awareness of distracted driving laws in Connecticut,” Officer Pete Parlos, of the Traffic Division, said in a press release.

Traffic Officer Nick Sachetti said, “I have noticed a greater percentage of compliance among drivers. I believe the enforcement campaign has made a positive influence on roadway safety.”

Police said the department’s primary goal of the campaign is to promote safe driving behavior.

“This is important, especially with the school year beginning on August 30, 2017,” police said. “We will be adding extra patrols around our schools for the beginning of the school year. We will continue enforcement for traffic violations including distracted driving, seat belts, speeding, and other moving offenses.”
