Man Shot Victim During Argument In West Hartford: Police (UPDATE)
Police responded to a report of two men arguing, one had a gun and the other had a hatchet, on Monday afternoon.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — A West Hartford man has been charged with shooting another man during an argument earlier on Monday, according to police. Shortly after 12 noon on April 22, West Hartford Police received a report of two men arguing in the area of Prospect Avenue and West Beacon Street. Police were told that one man had an ax and the other had a gun, according to Capt. Michael Perruccio.
While en route, officers were updated with information that a shot was fired. Arriving officers found a 28-year-old male victim (the one who had what was later determined to be a hatchet) suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm and started to treat him immediately, Perruccio said.
“Simultaneously, it was learned the shooter had fled on foot from the scene and other officers began a search for the suspect,” Perruccio wrote in a press release. “Officers from the Hartford Police, and K9 Teams from both Newington and Hartford Police responded to assist as well. The shooting victim was transported, conscious and alert, with a non-life-threatening wound by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital for further treatment. He has since been released from the hospital. Both the pistol and the hatchet were located and seized on scene.”
