State Trooper Involved in Crash with Civilian in West Hartford

Police are still investigating the situation.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Police said a state trooper was involved in a crash with a civilian in West Hartford on Wednesday.

State Trooper Paul Gunn was driving north on South Main Street when the incident occurred, according to a release. Police said Gunn was off duty and not involved in any police activity.

He was proceeding straight through the intersection when a second car, driven by Doreen Bottone, was traveling south on South Main Street. Bottone then turned left to travel east on New Britain Avenue, causing the two cars to collide at the intersection.

Police said both drivers were shaken from the crash but no serious injuries were reported. Both cars were towed from the scene.

Gunn was driving a 2013 Ford Taurus police cruiser, which had front end damage as a result of the incident. Bottone's 2009 Honda Accord received right side damage.

Bottone was issued an infraction for failure to grant right of way while making a left turn. Police are still investigating the situation.
