State Gives West Hartford $1M Christmas Gift For Trail
The funding will support the completion of Phase 6 of the Trout Brook Trail Project.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — State and local dignitaries celebrated a state grant that will fund the completion of a passive recreation trail for walkers, runners and bicyclists in West Hartford.
Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, along with several town and state officials, were on hand at the Elmwood Community Center Tuesday to announce a $1.08 million grant to complete the Trout Brook Trail in town.
The Elmwood Center is located near the trail.

The funding will support the completion of Phase 6 of the Trout Brook Trail Project, "which is shovel-ready" and constitutes "a 2,900-foot-long section of the multi-use trail between Fern Street and Duffield Drive," Bysiewicz's office said in a release.
This grant will allow for the completion of the last phase of the project.

In addition to Bysiewicz, Tuesday's announcement was expected to be attended by West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor; state Rep. Kate Farrar, D-West Hartford; state Rep. Tammy Exum, D-West Hartford; and state Sen. Derek Slap, D-West Hartford, among other dignitaries.
Bysiewicz said a completed trail will enhance the quality of life for the West Hartford community.
"This trail serves as a gateway for pedestrians, runners and cyclists to explore West Hartford by traveling safely between several neighborhoods across the town," wrote Bysiewicz.
"This trail will increase quality of life for residents and boost shopping and dining at local businesses."
