Lanes Reopening In West Hartford After Truck Takes Down Wires: Update
The accident this morning impacted New Britain Avenue.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A tractor trailer took down some overhead utility wires Friday morning, causing some traffic headaches for motorists in West Hartford.
But by mid-afternoon, West Hartford police said traffic was resuming on the road where the incident happened, though some impacts are still expected.
According to the West Hartford Police Department, a commercial motor vehicle struck wires near 1031 New Britain Ave.

As a result, police said, New Britain Avenue was closed in both directions from South Street to New Park Avenue.
This is so responders could clear the scene and motorists were being asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel.

At 2:05 p.m., the WHPD Tweeted out an update of the situation, saying:
"Currently, the southern most eastbound travel lane of New Britain Avenue remains closed while crews work to restore the area to normal. Aside from that one lane, east and westbound travel lanes are open for traffic. Please continue to use caution traveling through the area."
