USJ Community Halloween Celebration A Big Success

Children and families visited a University of Saint Joseph residence hall for an evening of Halloween 'Truck or Treating' on Monday.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Families in the West Hartford area were treated to a sneak peak at the University of Saint Joseph community, all in the spirit of Halloween on Monday.

Students at USJ hosted its annual "SPOOK-TACULAR Truck and Treat” on Monday, Oct. 30, with approximately, 300 young children dressed in their Halloween costumes attending.

It took place near and inside USJ's Madonna Hall dormitory.

Outdoors, guests were able to touch and explore West Hartford’s emergency vehicles up close and to meet West Hartford first responders in person.

USJ student volunteers and staffers handed out more candy and giveaways, and everyone enjoyed doughnuts and warm cider.

USJ’s women’s soccer team, dressed in their Halloween finest, took time out from their practice to show their young visitors some USJ spirit.

Meanwhile, USJ’s mascot Joey was also on hand to high-five all of his new young friends.

USJ thanks all of the first responders who made "Truck and Treat" a huge success.

They included West Hartford’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and their Emergency Management vehicle; the West Hartford Police Department and a patrol cruiser and undercover detective vehicle; a Bear Cat armored vehicle from the Emergency Services Unit; a West Hartford Fire Department ladder truck manned by West Hartford firefighters; an American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance with paramedics; a USJ Facilities truck with staffer;
a USJ Public Safety Cruiser with public safety officers; a USJ Gengras Bus with a staff member; and a Connecticut Auto and Towing tow truck with a mini-truck specialty vehicle.
