According to state police, a 2005 Honda Odyssey LX was traveling in the left-hand lane along I-84 east. It was being driven by a 34-year-old man from Southbury.

Traveling behind the Honda, was a 2021 Hyundai Tuscon Limited, which was being driven by a 23-year-old male from East Hartford, according to police.

A third vehicle in that line, police said, was a 2019 Ford Fiesta, which was being driven by a 20-year-old female from Winsted.

According to state police, the Honda and the Hyundai slowed for "congested traffic" on the highway when the Ford Fiesta struck the rear of the Hyundai, sending the Hyundai into the rear of the Honda.

The end result was the Hyundai being shoved underneath the Honda, the first car in line.

According to the accident report, the driver of the Ford Fiesta was found to be at fault for the crash and she received two citations.

As a result, police said Amanda Nicole Maud, 20, of 28 Maloney Court, Winsted, was cited for following too closely and operating under suspension.

She is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court Sept. 26.

Maud was transported to a nearby hospital for suspected minor injuries, according to police.
