West Hartford FD Announces Retirements Of Two Longtime Leaders

Both men served the West Hartford Fire Department for more than two decades.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The end of 2024 saw the West Hartford Fire Department say goodbye to two veteran department officials.

According to West Hartford Firefighters Local 1241, two longtime firefighters retired from the WHFD at the end of December after over two decades in town.

On Dec. 27, the union announced the retirement of WHFD Deputy Chief Keith Albert, who joined the department on Sept. 24, 2001.

"He dedicated 23 years to the town and residents of West Hartford. We wish him a long and healthy retirement," wrote the union.

Then, on Dec. 31, Local 1241 announced the retirement of WHFD Deputy Chief Eric Munsell, whose first day was on Jan. 1, 1999.

"He dedicated 25 years to the town and residents of West Hartford. We wish him a long and healthy retirement," wrote the union.

The retirement announcements come shortly after the WHFD appointed two new deputy chiefs to take their places.

The WHFD earlier last month appointed Adam Pacheco and Russell Duffy as the newest deputy chiefs among West Hartford's bravest.
