West Hartford Food Pantry Needs Community Donations

The West Hartford Food Pantry this week is reporting shortages of several food items to help folks in need and its seeking donations.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The holiday season of giving has long past, but the West Hartford Food Pantry this week said it needs a bit more community generosity.

That's because pantry officials report that supplies are low and they are hoping for an uptick in donations as folks embark on grocery shopping excursions.

Pantry officials say they are especially low on the following non-perishable food:

  • Baked beans
  • Canned fruit/applesauce
  • Pasta and sauce
  • Cold cereal
  • Canned chicken and tuna
  • Rice – 1-pound packages
  • Peanut butter, 16- to 18-ounce jars.
  • Soup
  • Macaroni and cheese

The pantry cannot accept open and/or expired food.

Donations can be left on the carts in the West Hartford Town Hall lobby (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) at 50 S. Main St.
