West Hartford Man Accused of Robbery in Craigslist Transaction

The man allegedly pulled a BB gun and fired it at the victim in iPhone transaction.

A West Hartford man was arrested for allegedly robbing another man with a BB gun during a Craigslist transaction on Tuesday night.

West Hartford Police officers were dispatched to Westphal Street at about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 6 on a reported robbery.

Upon arrival the victim immediately identified the suspect as Martel Davis, stating Davis contacted him about an iPhone he was selling on Craigslist.

Police said the victim met with Davis on Westphal Street, took a picture of Davis to record the transaction, and when it was time to pay for the phone Davis exited the complainant’s vehicle in an attempt to flee.

Police said the victim asked Davis what he was doing, at which point the victim stated Davis turned and pointed a BB gun at him and fired a BB in his direction.

Upon investigation officers located Davis and the BB gun at his residence.

Davis, 23, of 269 Oakwood Avenue in West Hartford, was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment, and carrying/brandishing a facsimile firearm. Bond was set at $100,000.
