West Hartford Man Charged with Stealing a Car

West Hartford police say they are investigating whether the suspect is connected to a rash of car burglaries in town.

West Hartford police say they have charged a West Hartford man with the theft of a stolen car and are investigating whether he is connected to a rash of car burglaries in town.

Police say Cody Benjamin Farley, 18, of Brookmoor Road was seen on New Park Avenue in a stolen Toyota Avalon at 3:30 p.m. Monday. The vehicle was listed as stolen from Newington and was tied to a rash of car burglaries in their town, police said.

Farley was also issued a motor vehicle summons by Connecticut State Police for an accident which occurred earlier in the day on the highway, near Hartford, in the same vehicle.

“We are investigating now to see if Farley was involved in our car breaks and stolen cars,” West Hartford police said.

At least 15 car break-ins were reported last Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and three cars were stolen, including one while it was warming up in the driveway.

Farley was processed without incident and charged with the following: third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny. Additional charges include first-degree criminal trover and interfering with an officer, and possession of burglary tools.

He was held on a $10,000 bond.
