West Hartford Police Arrest 2 After Finding Crack Cocaine, Handgun During Vehicle Stop
Officers said they located a handgun on one of the passengers after a routine traffic stop.
WEST HARTFORD, CT – Police said they made two arrests after finding crack cocaine, marijuana and other items inside the suspects' car.
Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on a heavily tinted vehicle could smell the odor of burnt marijuana after speaking with the three occupants. The driver, Barbara Rodriguez, admitted to having a blunt and were subsequently removed from the car.
Police said passenger Jimmy Gonzalez was found with a handgun sticking out from his waistband, not in a holster. The suspect was then taken to the ground and handcuffed.

The handgun was a Colt Python .357 revolver, and fully loaded. While being taken into custody, the handgun fell on the ground and all occupants were detained.
A search of the vehicle revealed a total of $2,936 in cash, 39 bags of crack cocaine (12.2 grams) and 4.8 grams of marijuana. Gonzalez and Rodriguez were arrested, while the third occupant was released on scene.
