WHPD Seeks Help In Finding Dec. 20 Fatal Hit-And-Run SUV

The incident claimed the life of an 89-Year-Old Woman Dec. 20.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police Friday issued a request for help as it continues to investigate a fatal hit-and-run incident where an 89-year-old female pedestrian was killed by a vehicle Dec. 20.

According to the West Hartford Police Department, officers are "seeking assistance from our community members and the general public."

The purpose of the WHPD's request was to seek public help in locating the vehicle believed responsible for hitting the woman.

The incident happened Dec. 20, 2022 on Boulevard near Whiting Lane.

Police said they believe the sport utility vehicle that hit the woman is a 2010 to 2015 GMC Terrain with front-end damage.

Officers said they also believe it was a light-colored vehicle and they, even, posted generic images of what the SUV may have looked like.

The incident is being investigated by the WHPD's Accident Reconstruction Team.

Safety on local roadways has been a major theme in recent weeks, with five people killed in three separate incidents in the days leading up to and including Christmas Day.

Tuesday, the West Hartford Town Council voted to commit the town to becoming a Vision Zero town, namely that it act strongly to try and eliminate traffic-related deaths and major injuries locally.
