Road Closed In West Hartford As Police Gather At Residence: PD: UPDATE

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A local road is closed as police and responders continue to tend to a situation there, the West Hartford Police Department reported Wednesday morning.

Early Wednesday afternoon, the WHPD released more information about why the road is closed and what is going on, though the exact nature of the matter wasn't divulged, other than it was "non-criminal" and involved a "welfare check."

According to the WHPD at about 11:35 a.m., Crocker Avenue between Trout Brook Drive and South Quaker Lane was closed due to "an active investigation."

Police did not indicate what the investigation was, but said first responders were on the scene.

They urged motorists to seek alternate routes.

Police and responders were still at the scene by early Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement released by the WHPD at 12:52 p.m. Wednesday, police said they were called to an address on Crocker Avenue at about 9:28 a.m.

Police said they were asked to conduct a non-criminal welfare assessment of a resident.

"Based on the nature of the complaint, as well as information gathered during the initial investigation, WHPD personnel are staging outside of the residence," wrote the WHPD Wednesday afternoon.

"We are asking community members to avoid the area while first responders are on scene as they evaluate the situation."
