West Hartford's Crash On I-84 West Now Cleared: Update

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A traffic nightmare in West Hartford continued into the afternoon Thursday, with another crash on Interstate 84, according to the state, but that second big wreck is now cleared.

The state Department of Transportation reports this accident was on I-84 west between exits 40 and 39A.

As a result, the left lane was closed, the DOT said.

The accident was reported at 2:03 p.m., but with the hour, it was already cleared.

Traffic was backed up 2.7 miles in that direction back to Exit 44, according to the state.

This accident came as authorities continue to investigate a serious motorcyclce/vehicle collision in that same area on the eastbound side of the highway.

That crash late Thursday morning has still not been cleared as of mid-afternoon Friday and the highway has been closed all afternoon.
