Winter Overnight Parking Ban Returning To West Hartford
The suspension of overnight on-street parking enforcement during the winter in West Hartford is about to be lifted.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The prohibition of overnight parking on public streets during the winter is about to return to West Hartford.
Beginning Feb. 1, town will reinstitute its prohibition on overnight parking between 2 and 5 a.m.
Officials said that residents who need to park a vehicle temporarily on the road may use the town's Parking Omit system.

A vehicle’s make, model, and plate number can be entered via:
"By removing vehicles from the roadway, Public Works crews are able to clear snow and ice efficiently without obstacles," officials said.

The town has also received complaints about conflicts with construction projects, on-street noise disturbances, and litter on private residential property.
Town officials are asking residents to plan ahead by making arrangements for their vehicles before the prohibition goes back into effect on Feb. 1.
In March 2020, Town Manager Matt Hart suspended the town's ban on overnight parking to accommodate the influx of returning students when the coronavirus pandemic forced colleges to close abruptly. Many employers also required their employees to work from home, also increasing the need to park in residential areas.
