Woman, 33, Killed in West Hartford Crash: Police

The woman died after her car crashed into a tree and caught on fire.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A woman was killed in a crash on Albany Avenue in West Hartford Friday night, according to police.

Officers responded to a serious single-car accident on Albany Avenue just west of MDC Reservoir 6 around 11:45 p.m. According to police, the car was going east on Albany Avenue before the driver lost control and crashed into a tree.

When authorities arrived on scene, the car was on fire. Sgt. Aaron Valiades, of the West Hartford police department, along with bystanders pulled the driver from the car before it became engulfed in flames.

The driver was then taken to St. Francis Hospital where she later died. She was identified as 33-year-old Breanna Segundo.

Albany Avenue was closed while police investigated but has since reopened. At the time of the crash, the road was wet due to light rain and there was dense fog.
